For those of you who REALLY want to twiddle with all of the little details of "Remember?", here is a list of the resources that might be useful.  WARNING! IF YOU CHOOSE TO ALTER ANY OF THESE RESOURCES, YOU ARE ON YOUR OWN!  (If you don't know what a Mac resource is, don't even think about munging about with these items.)

  11. ••• Resources in the "Remember?’s Settings” file •••
  12. (located in the System Folder or Preferences)

First, you should install the ResEdit templates provided in the file "Rem? x.xx ResEdit Templates".  Older versions of ResEdit require you to paste the TMPL resources into a copy of "ResEdit" then start up the copy and use it to edit the resources in the settings file.  New versions, and other utilities (such as "Resourcer") allow you to copy the template file into a folder or paste the template resources it contains into the file itself.  These templates describe the structure of "Remember?"'s private resources.

  17. Contains most user settings for the package. You can get at most of the items in this resource through the DA configuration dialogs.

  20. Custom resource with all sorts of parameters for printing.

  23. List of small icons used in the animated alert window.  You can add or delete icons from this list of icons or replace it to create your own animation sequence.

  30. You should never really need to touch anything in the DA.  However, if you want to localize for a given language, the following resources will be of interest (resource IDs are given for the DA file as supplied with the package.  Installing the DA with Font/DA Mover will change them.)

  56. Don't fiddle with other resources or you may very well crash the system.  (Also, do not add or delete items to the above string lists or a crash and burn may also result.)

  62. Well, no, actually it was done using the following:

  64. Think “C,”  the C programmer’s friend.  Used to create the INIT and DA.  Works great, hangs together very well, does a pretty damn good job.  (If only it was fully ANSI conforming.  You just can’t please some folks.)

  66. MPW, used for various resources.  Other stuff will eventually migrate here as well.

  68. McAssembly, another fine product from Signature Software (Dave McWherter.)  Used to create the Pop-up Alert handler and the “scroll bar” MDEF.  Look for and support Dave’s ShareWare (like McSink), you won’t be disappointed.

  70. Chase’s Annual Events, 1990 (ISBN 0-8092-4292-3.)  Reference source for the predefined occasions.  Want to know the date of Equatorial Guinea Independence Day?  Look for it here.  (It is October 12, by the way.)
